Q. What can I do if my appliance that I recently purchased is not permitted/does not appear on the database?

Return to point of purchase.

Q. What can I do if my appliance that I recently purchased has an expired permit?

Q. Is it safe for me to purchase a product with a discontinued permit?

Yes, discontinued status indicated that the importer is no longer importing that range. The sale of the current product is accepted.

Installations

Q. What do I do when I smell gas?

• Check that the valve is closed and take the cylinder outdoors. Ventilate the inside area to prevent gas build-up.
• Check for leaks in the valve, regulator, and pipe by using dish-washing liquid. The soapy solution will bubble if there are any leaks.

Q. Where can I find qualified installers?

Q. How do I know if the installer is qualified?

The installer should present you with an installer card which will contain their registration number, which you can use to check on the SAQCC Gas database.

Q. What happens when a qualified installer completes a job that turns out to be non-compliant?

Q. What to do in case of an LPG fire?

• Stop further sources of ignition.
• If the valve is accessible, close the valve at supply (cylinder).
• Contact the fire brigade.
• Raise the alarm and inform neighbours.
• If possible, take the cylinder outside.
• Where necessary, keep adjacent cylinders cool with a hose until help arrives.
• Do not try put out the fire with the hose.
• Keep fire extinguisher ready in case of further outbreak.

Q. Can I complete my own installation?

No, always ensure that a registered installer has completed the installation and has issued a Certificate of Conformity (CoC) upon completion of the installation.
